Here we are half way through January and I find myself reflecting on 2015. It was an amazing first year for Moo and the Magpie.
The idea started to form at the beginning of 2015 and if you read my first blog post, it was simply a case of turning what I was already doing into an online business.
After talking to a couple of creative friends, it became obvious to me that my brand and online shop would benefit from getting more creative people involved. So I worked hard on getting it to a point where I had something to pitch.
The name, the brand and the business structure were first on the list. With these taking good shape, it was fantastic to be re-united to my old school and art college friend, Rachel Bailey (Pixie Made). And now we were four.
I knew I didn’t want to miss out on the opportunities of Christmas and with that in mind, we booked a table for The Rare Brand Market at Goodwood. The pressure was on! We all got busy making, I was putting together the website and started to actively to market us on social media.
The website (without the shop) went live in September with the shop coming online a few weeks after The Rare Brand Market.
The Rare Brand Market was a fantastic experience for us all. Myself and Anita Gyori manned the stall for all four days with some help from Rachel and Kirsteen (Studio Kloon), it was such a buzz! What was truly wonderful was that people seemed to genuinely like and be interested in what we were doing, we weren’t sure they would! It was so good to see our lovingly handcrafted pieces going off to new homes with happy owners. We even had a celebrity visitor as you can see in the photo of myself with Kate Winslet and the organiser Emma Shwarz!
So here we are in 2016 and we plan to build on what we started last year. We have some exciting plans in the pipeline which I hope to be able to share with you soon but in the meantime look out for a number of new products that will be coming to the website over the next few weeks.
